About Calamity Ridge
Calamity Ridge was created by Brooks and Leah Patterson. Originally from Georgia, they were seeking a change of scenery and an idyllic place to raise their children. In their search for “Mayberry,” they discovered Livingston, Montana, and the beauty of Paradise Valley. Seeing children ride their bikes to school and lemonade stands on summer corners brought back a sense of community they had long missed. The breathtaking mountain views of Paradise Valley sealed the deal, and they soon found the perfect piece of property.
The name Calamity Ridge was inspired by Calamity Jane—a woman, western legend, and Livingston resident who chased adventure and forged her own path. In many ways, the Pattersons feel they have done the same with this home. With the design expertise of @sdhdesignsolutions (Sidney Haynes, a prominent architect from Macon, Georgia) and Brooks’ background in construction and design, the vision began to take shape. The home was created with historic barns of Montana and the history of Montana’s Wild West in mind. After months of planning, they broke ground in December 2023 and completed the project in June 2025.
The Patterson family, along with their company, Prodigy West Limited, are proud to offer this home for others to enjoy. It was designed with large families and multiple families traveling together in mind, as such accommodations can be hard to find.
The exterior features Coral Board siding, crafted from locally reclaimed corals, and Montana Moss Stone sourced from the surrounding mountains. Inside, guests will find hand-hewn, reclaimed white oak from Pennsylvania and nearby regions, sourced from @old_world_lumber in Three Forks, Montana. The flooring is unfinished, reclaimed white oak, giving the home a warm, timeless character. Cabinetry was designed by Prodigy West and built by @stellar_woodworks in Gordon, Georgia. Throughout the home, the design elements are thoughtfully curated by the family, with many treasures found in local antique shops.
